Countries ready to go head-to-head in team relay

After testing their abilities against the clock, riders taking part in the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships will line up alongside their compatriots in a team relay event.

The relay, which is raced for bragging rights and not an official UCI world title, will see 20 teams of four take it in turns to race two laps of the course adjacent to Perth’s Swan River.

Australia, Great Britain, South Africa, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Slovenia, Brazil and France will battle for the honours.

The Esplanade on Elizabeth Quay will come to life with an event expo, which will include a food truck village and event partners such as Etixx and SRAM Racing.

The day will be highlighted by the official Opening Ceremony and Time Trial podium presentations from 7pm.

The Official Opening ceremony will include a Welcome to Country, followed by presentations from the Team Relay and Individual Time Trial.
